Whether you want to become a professional coach or bring powerful coaching skills into your leadership, ministry, organization, or everyday relationships, Surface to Soul's ACC-level training gives you the skills, practice, feedback, and confidence to coach well.

What is coaching?

Coaching is a collaborative process that helps people think more deeply, discover new possibilities, make meaningful decisions, and move toward goals that matter to them.

Unlike consulting, coaching isn't primarily about giving people answers. Unlike mentoring, it isn't built around the coach's experience. And unlike therapy, coaching isn't primarily focused on diagnosing or treating psychological concerns. Great coaches create the conditions for people to discover insights, possibilities, and next steps for themselves.

Skills you'll develop  in our program

  • You'll listens in ways that help people feel genuinely heard.
  • You'll ask questions that unlock new possibilities.
  • You'll help people discover their own answers rather than giving advice.
  • You'll create conversations where insight turns into action.
  • You'll help leaders and teams navigate change.
  • You'll bring curiosity, presence, and confidence into difficult conversations.
  • You'll know how to conduct an ethical, professional coaching relationship.
  • You can pursue an internationally recognized coaching credential.
  • You'll have opportunities to master the core coaching competencies during live coaching sessions and in participating in coaching triads.

Imagine Becoming the Person Who....

What can I expect about the coach training process?

  • Learn by doing. Coaching isn't learned by watching PowerPoints. You'll practice coaching throughout the program.
  • Practice all eight competencies. Every competency moves from concept to application.
  • Coach. Be coached. Observe. Practice Labs allow students to rotate among coach, client, and observer roles and receive feedback. Your existing Practice Lab material already articulates this nicely.
  • Learn with experienced coaches. Students interact with multiple instructors and coaching styles rather than learning from only one voice.
  • Join a learning community. Students learn from the questions, experiences, experiments, successes, and insights of their classmates.
  • Prepare for what comes next. Training connects the classroom experience to actual coaching relationships and the ICF credentialing journey.
