Right now my congregation is reading The Story. The Bible as one continuing story of God and His people. Our Pastor preaches on it, our classes are reading and studying it from K-12. I'm teaching a class of confirmation parents and we have great discussions. But here's the thing; I have to be prepared and read ahead of them, so each day with my morning coffee, I have my "worship" time. I always awake with a song in my heart that I carry with me until my reading begins. I have experienced a new joy in reading the inspired Word of God. I look forward to my time. It is intentional and I don't put it off if something else comes up. It's become a priority that gives me rest and peace and comfort. Who knew?!!!

This only confirms for me that staying in scripture holds the secret to our success in this world. By the end of the 31 weeks it will take to go through the book, we will have read the whole Bible, with the exception of a few books like Kings, and such.

I worship every morning, whether it's the "sabbath" or not!

It goes two ways for me either it is with people and the conversation is talking about how God is working in our lives or it is silence, by myself, away from distractions maybe with the Bible, a book or music but at one point sitting in the presence of God saying nothing!

I agree with Ben. The idea of mini-sabbath is something that I can remember to help me through a long day.

I get to drive over the Mississippi River from Iowa into Illinois every day for work. I love to see the color of the river, see if there are waves or if it is calm, and I see the color of the sky every time I cross (which can be up to 6 times a day, depending on my schedule!). When my sons are in the car, I talk able the glory of God's creation, and the colors that God has created. When I am alone, it helps me remember how thankful I am that I am alive, and a child of God. It's a great time of centering myself.

I really enjoy walking or running in the morning, and I most feel the holy spirit in the quiet.

I like your idea of mini-sabbath, because it puts a helpful face on things we do that are really healthy, but could appear to be slacking off.

I am my own worst enemy. I can preach about Sabbath, and and about studying the Word, but don't do well at following through. I have recently been invited to a Bible Study that is outside of my church, but with good friends. Our relationship is already deep, but studying the Word together will make it even better. I am very excited to be doing this, because as a staff person at a church, i am not good about feeding myself spiritually, but feel this will be a great start.
